Teacher Appreciation Week is May 3-7

Teacher Appreciation Week is Right Around the Corner!

Our Echo Canyon and EDL teachers have worked diligently this year to ensure our kids are safe, supported, and have the opportunity to learn and grow despite times of desperate uncertainty and volatility.  They have pushed themselves to think outside the box, learn new ways to interact, and bring social connectedness to a socially distanced (and sometimes virtual) environment.  This was no easy task, yet they shined!  This year, for Teacher Appreciation, let's show our teachers how much we love and appreciate them all week long:
  • Makers Monday (5/3): Draw a picture, write a poem, make a craft for your teacher.  Take some time to make something from the heart to show your teacher how much he/she means to you.  Parents, get involved and make this a fun family craft opportunity!
  • Joke Day Tuesday (5/4): Bring your teacher a joke and share some laughs together.
  • All About My Teacher Wednesday (5/5): For the younger students, parents should interview their child about their teacher and send in the responses.  Consider questions such as: my teacher likes..., my teacher is good at..., my teacher always says..., this year my teacher helped me learn..., my favorite thing about this school year was..., I like my teacher because...  For older students, write your teacher a simple note sharing what you like about them, what they helped you learn this year, and a cherished or funny memory from this school year.
  • Heart Attack Thursday (5/6): Cut out paper hearts at home and bring them to school to decorate your teacher's desk and/or classroom door.  Consider writing things you appreciate about your teacher or words of encouragement inside each heart.
  • Finale Friday (5/7): On-campus luncheon provided for all staff.  Consider sending your teacher off for the weekend with a flower or another small token of your appreciation. Check out the Teacher Profiles for some good ideas.
